This policy explains what information WatchWithKids collects, how it's used, and the choices you have. We've tried to keep it in plain language.
WatchWithKids ("we," "us," or "the site") is a free web tool at watchwithkids.com that helps parents and caregivers find age-appropriate movies and TV shows. The site is operated as an independent project. You can reach us any time at the address on our Contact page.
WatchWithKids is designed for and directed at parents and adult caregivers — the people choosing what their children watch. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly. We comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) in this respect.
The only personal information we ask for directly is your email address, and only if you choose to subscribe to our weekly recommendation newsletter. Subscribing is entirely optional. Email signups are processed by Formspree, a third-party form service; you can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email we send.
Like most websites, we automatically receive certain technical information when you visit, including your approximate location (country/region), browser type, device type, pages viewed, and how you interact with the site's filters and features. We use this to understand what's useful and improve the tool. This is described further under Analytics and Advertising below.
When you save a title using the bookmark button, that list is stored locally in your browser (using localStorage) and never leaves your device or reaches our servers. Clearing your browser data removes it.
We and our partners use cookies and similar technologies to run analytics and serve advertising. You can control or disable cookies through your browser settings, though some features may work differently if you do.
We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site in aggregate — for example, which filters are most popular or where people drop off. Google Analytics may set cookies and process usage data on our behalf. You can learn more in Google's Privacy Policy, and you can opt out using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
We use Google AdSense to display ads, which helps keep WatchWithKids free.
Movie and show information, posters, ratings, trailers, and streaming-availability data are provided by The Movie Database (TMDb). This product uses the TMDb API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDb. When you click through to watch a title, you may be taken to a third-party service (such as a streaming platform or retailer) whose own privacy practices apply.
Some "where to watch" links may be affiliate links, meaning we could earn a small commission if you rent or buy through them, at no extra cost to you. This does not influence which titles we show you.
We do not sell your personal information.
You can unsubscribe from emails at any time, opt out of personalized ads and analytics as described above, and clear locally-stored data through your browser. Depending on where you live (for example, under GDPR or CCPA), you may have additional rights to access or delete personal data we hold — contact us and we'll help.
We keep newsletter email addresses only as long as you remain subscribed. Aggregate analytics data is retained according to our analytics provider's standard retention settings.
We may update this policy as the site evolves. When we do, we'll revise the "last updated" date at the top of this page.
